I recently saw this Esco Chalkware statue of Peter Falk as Columbo on eBay. They’re asking $549 or best offer. Wow! I guess there’s good reason, though. After a little research, I found that Esco only did limited runs of these statues, usually 100 or less, due to possible licensing issues for using celebrity likenesses. In addition, they’re chalkware and thus susceptible to nicks, scratches, dings, cracks, and breakage. Fragile collectible + limited availability = valuable, in the collecting world.
